Q: how many appliances can you use at the same time? ie can I use a fridge, TV and have lighting at the same time with 480w putput.

The input to the battery has a maximum efficiency of 480watts. If there’s cloud/ dirt/ leaves etc on the panels it drops. But that’s just what’s charging your battery. This kit comes with 1x 1500w AC converter with 1 plug output. So realistically on 1 appliance reliably so long as it’s below the 480watt input, otherwise you’ll be in a power deficit. If you plan on running fridges, TV’s and lights at the same time, I would suggest a more substantial system and investing in a properly installed battery array otherwise you’ll be suffering power cuts and damaging your batteries. A TV uses between 80- 400watts. So that and some lights might run reliably. A fridge uses around 180watts. A freezer around the same. A kettle uses 1200watts. A microwave 500- 800watts. A comfortable set up for your needs would probably be closer to 600-800watts. To account for weather/ power demand etc. This is a amateur set up for stables/ sheds/ cabins. Which will run a TV, Fridge, freezer. Phone charger and the occasional microwave and kettle usage.

Q: Will this kit give me enough to run a 1 kw heater for an hour a day through the winter?

Difficult to answer due to not knowing the amount of sun. With 4 120watt panels in summer I get 1.2 kw running 3 freezers TV and laptop plus charging phones and 6 portable tent lights. I brought a charger for winter to do overnight on the cheaper electricity
