Q: Do code 83 turn outs work with code 100 flex track?

By definition, code 83 track is .083" in height and code 100 track is .100" in height so there is a .017" difference in height. There are several ways to join track of different height. One, you can use sectional track pieces in HO with the rail of one size at one end and the another on the other end. Two, you can use transition rail joiners. Atlas and Micro Engineering makes code 100 to code 83 metal rail joiners. Three, you can make your own transition joints by soldering track together using rail joiners for the taller rail and, using pliers, flatten the other end so the lower track butts directly to the taller track. This method requires some skill using the soldering iron, tacking the track down and making the joint. Good luck.
